Introduction
The
HealthConnect strategy is a partnership between the Australian, State and Territory Governments. It will facilitate the adoption of common standards by all e-health systems so that vital health information can be securely exchanged between health care providers such as doctors, specialists, pharmacists, hospitals and so on.
Health
Connect aims to improve the quality and safety of health care by encouraging the use of information and communication technologies based on national standards developed by
National E-Health Transition Authority that will ensure:
- Interoperability between different information systems
- Clinicians and their patients receive timely and relevant information for decision making
- Security and privacy of sensitive personal health information.
The first step is for:
- Connect to a specific CISCO Router (or equivalent) with the necessary specifications to partake in any Health Department program that involves electronic information sharing.
- Raise the security awareness of participants to ensure the security of patient information.
